Private Swim Lessons

Half-hour classes for one-on-one instruction. Cost is $15 per half-hour for members; $20 for non-nembers. Space is limited. Contact Aquatics Director April Dorman at ext. 220 to schedule.

 

 

YOUTH AQUATICS (Age 6 & up)

Polliwog

Prerequisite: Completion of the Pike and/or Eel class or consent of Aquatics

                     Director.

*Goals: Paddle on front, back and side 25 yards with float belt, 20 feet without.

*Goals: Front paddle with rotary breathing for 25 yards. Jump in and paddle for

             10 feet, then float for 10 seconds and return to the side.

Fish

*Goals: Development of front and back crawl, breast stroke, sidestroke and

             butterfly. Endurance, 50 yards in each stroke, butterfly 25 yards

Flying Fish

*Goals: Continued development of all strokes. Endurance 100 yards in each

             stroke, butterfly 25 yards. Flip turns for front and back crawl.

Barracudas YMCA Swim Team  07Q5-02255-01

The Lima YMCA Barracudas Swim Team is an organization that serves swimmers ages 5-18 in our area through a competitive swim program. The program offers instruction, training and competition at all levels of swimming. The team participates in both YMCA and USA Swimming meets. The team and swimmers work to achieve caring, honesty, respect and responsibility by working within a structured and directed  program.

· 2005-06 season’s #2 ranked 9-10 medley in nation

· Multiple Champs & Zones qualifiers each year

· Flexible practices; seven days to choose from

· Low coach-to-swimmer ratio

Per National rules, swimmers must be Y members.

Prices –  If paid in full by Sept. 10: $210/child

Sept. 11-Oct. 9: $235/child (paid in full), OR

3 payments of $80 due Oct. 10, Nov. 10 & Dec. 10

High school swimmers: $109

**25% discount for each additional child

Shrimp/Perch

With instruction from our staff, parents swim with their children teaching the essential aspects of swimming. For children ages 6 months to 3 years old.

             feet without the belt. Front and back float. Gain self- confidence.

Twinges in the Hinges (Arthritis)

This program provides the opportunity for Aquatics socialization and enjoyment while using water buoyancy and resistance to help improve joint flexibility and muscle strength. No cardiovascular segment. (No Instructor on Friday.)

Masters Swim Team

A meeting will be held at the Lima Family YMCA on Monday, October 22, at 6:30 p.m. for anyone interested in participating on a masters swim team (must be at least 19 years old). For more information on times and fees, call April Dorman at ext. 220.

 

Yoga Afloat 

Combines traditional yoga poses with other moves that can be tailored to people of all fitness levels to improve flexibility, coordination and strength. Must be able to float with assistance.

Aqua Fit

Work out to fun, aerobic routines while staying cool. A low-impact, cardiovascular workout in the shallow end of the pool.
