Mission Statement

The mission of the Lima Family YMCA Battle of the Businesses is to promote a community-wide commitment to health, fitness and wellness activities. This shall be accomplished through the planning and execution of a series of events and opportunities for the corporations and businesses in the Lima/Allen County area.

General Information

All companies are welcome to participate. There are two divisions: Alpha-for the smaller companies with 250 or less employees; and Omega-for the larger companies with 251 or more employees. Any size company may enter the Omega division if they so choose. There is also a combination option where you may combine with another company, with the only stipulation that the total number of employees in both companies must equal 250 employees or less.

Team size is 14 members comprised of 7 male and 7 female (spouses may be on the team). There is a separate optional competition for CEOs. Each CEO may choose 4 of the following events: Herb Jay Run/Walk, Basketball Hotshots, Mystery Event, Bowling, CEO Trivia, CEO Card Game, CEO Slingshot. CEO Frisbee.

Team entry fee is $425 and includes team t-shirts and 3-month YMCA memberships for team members or volunteers and CEO. These memberships are valid for three months from the issue date. We will offer a 10% discount on each additional team for any company that enters more than one team. If, for any reason, a team finds that they must pull out of the Battle of the Businesses, that team will be refunded 50% of the total entry fee.

Goals

  • To promote fun, fitness and fellowship among area employees in an atmosphere of friendly competition.
  • To encourage all company work levels to compete, cheer and support the team as one.
  • To make employees aware of the need to assume more responsibility for their health and well-being.
  • To encourage all employees over the age of 18 to participate, whether it be on a team, as a volunteer, or as a participant in the Run/Walk.
  • To foster a sense of pride in our community and the companies for which we work.
  • To promote community awareness of, and involvement in, the Battle of the Businesses and the Lima Family YMCA
