Project 212 Seeks to Help More Families

The goal of Project 212 is simple, but impactful: support an additional 212 families in 2012. Y members and community guests will have the opportunity to support Project 212 during My Y week from April 16-27. Throughout the Y we’ll be raising awareness and funds to provide financial assistance to more families who need our help.

Visually Impaired Athlete is an Inspiration

This past February, just four years after learning to ski, Sean Oden represented the Michigan chapter at the 37th annual Ski for Light International week in Utah. The event provides an opportunity for more than 100 blind and visually impaired skiers to navigate remarkable cross country ski trails. Paired with a trained guide, they would ski for four hours a day, taking a break only for lunch.

Parkinson's Program is Good for the Body and the Soul

In the year following Lowell Bradshaw’s Parkinson’s diagnosis in 2010 he went downhill quickly, according to his wife, Betty. During that time, they learned about the Y’s Parkinson’s program at Lima Memorial Hospital. Shortly after, Lowell started his first class on his birthday.
